Now that 2017 is coming to a close, we’d like to review some of the top trends that we’ve noticed in homebuilding this year:

Quartz, quartz and more quartz.
Our homeowners are requesting it more often and we’ve seen demand increase tenfold. Everyone wants the look of marble, but they don’t want the maintenance and etching that comes with a marble countertop. We’ve been asked a lot about butcher block countertops.. And they look great. Let’s face it, who wants to deal with a stained countertop? We’re looking forward to sharing more quartz samples with our homeowners in the future.

Farmhouse style exteriors.
The farmhouse and craftsman home aesthetic is more popular now than ever. The x-bones, and extras on the facade of a house really make the house feel more homey and appealing. In northwest Indiana, Valparaiso and Chesterton specifically, you won’t see a lot of craftsman homes. You can live our your Pinterest dreams and have the cutest house on the block.

Organization + Storage extras.
Organization and storage in a home has always been a major priority. This year we’ve seen an increase in clients asking for larger pantries, more storage space for lawn accessories, and parts of their basements left unfinished for added storage. We all have boxes in our basements, but it helps to have a clearly defined plan to make sure your house feels clean and functional upon moving in.

White cabinets, tile backsplashes.
We thought for sure that we’d see a decline in requests for all-white kitchens, but it was just the opposite. Every home that was build by us in northwest Indiana contained a white kitchen this year! Whether you opt in for a contrasting island, or have white throughout, it is a clean, refreshing look that goes well with just about anything. Tile backsplashes look especially great with white cabinets, and who doesn’t love the added benefits of a backsplash? It is one of our most popular upgrades.

Stand-alone tubs.
Stand-alone tubs are here to stay. While we always offer our homeowners an option between stand-alone and jacuzzi tubs, we most often get asked for this option. How romantic and peaceful. This is a great time to relax and think about all of the other trendy extras to add into your home.
